Kareem Amer
According to Amnesty, Egyptian blogger Karim Amer is facing 10 years in prison for criticising of Islam, al-Azhar University, and the Egyptian government. Not only that, his own father has called for him to be executed.
I've seen various reports about it on the web but nothing in the mainstream media. and no indication from anywhere as to what the British government's position is, or will be. The trial resumes tomorrow. I'd like to think that it will be widely reported on. I'd like to think that the Foreign Office will condemn Egypt's suppression of free speech. But I fear neither will happen.
